Biography

     Marc’s company grade officer background is in light engineer combat units at all levels.  He served as light platoon leader and task force engineer to multiple light infantry task forces in the 9^th Infantry Regiment, 7^th ID(L), to include rotations to NTC/JRTC.  He served as executive officer to the 907^th EN CO (L) and Co A, 65^th EN and as the assistant brigade engineer to the 1^st Brigade, 25^th ID (L).  While an executive officer, he deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba  in support of migrant operations stemming from Haitian and Cuban political situations.  While deployed, he performed duties as the OIC of the migrant movement cell with responsibilities for transport, processing, and security of inbound and outbound migrants, to include receipt and processing of prisoners held from the Panama riots and the forced repatriation of Cuban and Haitian migrants.  After completion of the Engineer Officer Advanced Course, he earned a Masters degree in Engineering Management from University of Missouri-Rolla and registration as a Professional Engineer in Missouri.  Marc then commanded a basic combat training company, which he led to train and graduate in excess of 1100 soldiers during the period of his command.  Following, he served as a small group leader at the Engineer Officer Advanced Course, graduating 5 classes of future company commanders and performed additional duties as the Cooperative Degree program coordinator, establishing 5 distinct cooperative degree programs with local universities for advanced course students of all backgrounds to participate in.  Marc was involved in doctrine development for the Stryker Brigade Combat Team and as the primary developer/instructor for the Tactical Leader’s Course used to train the key leaders of the 18^th Engineer Company in the initial phases of the Stryker transformation. Upon reassignment to the 3/361^st Training Support Battalion in Denver, CO, he served initially as Team Chief, Senior Engineer Observer/Controller-Trainer, maintaining responsibility for the training and readiness of specialty engineer detachments in a three state region and then as Battalion S3 Operations Officer during mobilization operations at Fort Carson, CO in support of Operation Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.  From August 2003 to July 2004, he deployed to Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan as a future operations planner for the Coalition Forces Land Component Command  in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Marc is currently attending Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS.

     Marc is the founder and team leader of Team Veteran Leader Adventure Racing. Team Veteran Leader is an adventure racing team consisting of a group of dedicated athletes who share in a common mission:

1. To honor the veterans of our Armed Forces, past and present, for dedicating a part of their lives to the defense of our nation and its allies

2.  To demonstrate by performance and example that no obstacle is so great that the human spirit cannot overcome it

3.  To promote awareness of the goals and mission of the Veterans of the Vietnam War, Inc and the Veterans Coalition to the veterans of our Armed Forces as well as civilians and serving members of Active Duty, Guard, and Reserve Forces.

The team is comprised of Active Duty, Guard, and Reserve Service Members, Veterans, and family members of the above who share the common experience of service to our nation. The Team competes in honor of all service members and all veterans, as well as to raise funding and awareness for the Veterans of the Vietnam War, Inc and the Veterans Coaltion.

Marc is the team’s primary navigator.  His competitive background encompasses intercollegiate and professional martial arts as well as orienteering, rogaines, mountain biking, running, kayaking, and adventure racing in all formats from sprint to expedition racing at a national and international level.  He has extensive experience in Orienteering, Mountain Biking, Climbing, Rappelling, Whitewater Kayaking/Rafting,  The team has competed in National and International level competition.  In every competition, the team dedicates its efforts to the memory of a fallen hero.
