Biography

In 1987 I was told of a meeting of Vietnam Veterans who were interested in starting a Vietnam Veterans Post.  This post would be part of the Veterans of the Vietnam War, Inc. and we all agreed that we wanted to start a post and work on issues related to Vietnam and its veterans.

When VVnW Post PA-35, York County, PA was founded I was one of the Charter members and have served in the positions of Commander, Vice Commander, Master Sgt-at-Arms and Adjutant.  I was also one of the first life members of Post PA-35.

In 1994 while attending a VVnW National Convention they asked for a volunteer to work on the POW/MIA issue on a National level and since I had read almost every book on the issue and wanted to do something to bring these men home I volunteered for the position.  This then lead to my interest in running for a National Board position to which I was elected for two four-year terms.  I also represent the VVnW on the Veterans Day National Committee for Veterans Day in Washington, D.C.  I also serve as the National Chaplain.

My father was in the Navy for over twenty years and I have lived in over 25 different cities and four countries.  I served in the Marines from 1966 to 1970 and I spent 13 months in Vietnam with the First Marine Air Wing in Chu Lai.

I feel that my life experience has helped me to know the needs and wants of veterans and their families and I continue to work through the Veterans of the Vietnam War, Inc. in securing all that veterans have earned by their willingness to serve when called.
