Biography

Ed is a life member of The Veterans of the Vietnam War, Inc. & The Veterans Coalition.

He is also a life member of the Citizens Flag Alliance, was a member of Post #7069VFW, and an associate member of the Ezra F. Griffon Memorial Post, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and a charter member of Brotherhood Rally of All Veterans Organization.

He was Chairman of the Committee to bring the Moving Wall to Chinchilla, PA, in 1987, and organized the week long event that included an essay contest, musical performances every night, speeches and counseling and the largest parade in the Abington area’s history, complete with helicopter fly-over, speeches and counseling.  He worked with other members of PA-40 to name a bridge on US Routes 6 & 11, “The Parker Wescott Memorial Bridge” to honor David Parker and Richard Westcott (Ed’s childhood friend), both casualties of Vietnam.   

He spearheaded a statewide drive of combined Veteran organizations to name the northernmost bridge on the Northeast Extension of the PA Turnpike the “FREEDOM BRIDGE” to honor and remember the POW/MIAs from all wars. 

He has volunteered to work on United Veterans Beacon House houses in West Virginia and South Dakota and has volunteered at the ‘MALL’ in Washington DC with National Headquarters.

He has served as the National Honor Guard Coordinator for the past two years.

What I Truly Believe

I believe the United States of America is the greatest country on the face of the earth. I firmly support the American Flag. I fully support our troops in Iraq and all other areas in which they serve. I believe in freedom and that all the benefits and privileges of living in America are to be enjoyed and accepted by all legal citizens of the USA. I believe that America is made up of immigrants from all over the world and welcome all those who wish to enter legally and become citizens of this great nation. I believe that all immigrants should remember their heritage, and also have the freedom and obligation to learn and speak English.

I receive great pleasure while working with my fellow veterans and active military. Veterans are our greatest resource. We need to tap this resource and use it to continue to build this country into even a greater world leader of freedom.  If I can help one homeless Vet to get back on his feet, help one Vet gain benefits, or help one member of our military feel less lonely while away from home, my heart will be lighter.
